Perth-based HNZ has taken delivery of the first of three brand new AW109SP's. The aircraft is being readied for marine pilot transfer operations at Karratha in the north-west of Western Australia as part of a contract with Rio Tinto.

The New Plymouth operations are part of HNZ's long association with Taranaki, starting back in 1968 supporting the drilling ship Discoverer II in North Taranaki. Today, HNZ operates out of three large hangars with a staff of 30, including 12 pilots, eight engineers and support personnel, at its base at New Plymouth airport.
